Traffic accidents are common, but good photos, especially at night, is rare. Who carries around something better than a cell phone camera? Not only is the scene still dangerous, the conditions are not typically well suited to good exposure. Also, in low light, auto focus may not have enough light in order to be effective. Finally, you need steady hands and control of your depth of field. So, leave it to the pros and drive safely and courteously around the scene to help workers and safety officials open the road quickly.
